G7 leaders on Thursday agreed to lend Ukraine $50 billion this year — backed by profits from frozen Russian assets — to help the country’s war effort and rebuilding.
Ukrainian Pres. Zelenskyy hailed the agreement with the U.S., calling it the "strongest agreement" between the two countries since Ukraine’s independence.
"This is an agreement on steps to guarantee sustainable peace," Zelenskyy said at a joint press conference in Italy during the G7 conference. "It benefits everyone in the world because the Russian war against Ukraine is a real, real global threat."
