A growing coalition of Democratic Attorneys General have vowed to protect their citizens from a second Trump term. Among them, Connecticut AG William Tong and Arizona AG Kris Mayes. At least half a dozen states are committing to protecting reproductive freedom, environmental regulations, immigrant rights, and the LGBTQ+ community. Legal experts call the scale of mobilization unprecedented, and their actions could become a crucial check on Trump’s authoritarian ambitions. “We won’t be intimidated,” says Mayes. “We built a firewall in Trump 1.0, and that wall has never come down,” adds Tong. “Democratic AGs are going on offense.”
