Rachel Maddow points out that Donald Trump’s demand that new Republican-led Senate take a recess so he can make appointments unencumbered by confirmations is largely unnecessary because there are no Republican senators with the courage to obstruct his appointments anyway. But the real reason Trump wants the Senate to get out of his way is to assert his individual, authoritarian power over the legislative branch of government.
