The first test of Donald Trump’s effort to seize power over the federal government will be whether Senate Republicans bend to his will and rubber stamp his appointees no matter how unqualified they are. Even though senators chose John Thune over Trump’s preferred Senate leader, Rick Scott, Thune seemed ready to do his part for Trump, at least until Trump’s attempt to appoint Matt Gaetz to attorney general. Adam Jentleson, former chief of staff to Senator John Fetterman, talks with Alex Wagner about whether there is enough spine left in the Senate GOP to say no to Trump’s most radical appointments.
